The graduate students of the University of Calgary's Faculty of Fine Arts are pleased to announce a call for papers for their 2010 Graduate Student Conference entitled Confounding Expectations-Inspiring Minds. The conference will take place Monday May 3rd to Wednesday May 5th, 2010, at the renowned Rozsa Centre.
The aim of the conference is to provide a collegial environment in which graduate students can present their research and form professional connections. We encourage submissions from graduate students in musicology, theory, music education, performance and composition and from graduate students from other disciplines, who are working on music topics or music-related topics. We would especially welcome submissions from graduate students in the four faculties of the University of Calgary that will be amalgamated this coming Spring: Communication and Culture, Fine Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences.
Papers should be no longer than twenty minutes and lecture-recitals no longer than forty minutes. A ten-minute question period will follow each presentation. Abstracts should be approximately 350 words and must contain no information that could identify you or your institution. Be sure to attach the official submission form to your abstract. All abstracts will be evaluated anonymously and should be suitable for publication in the conference program. Submissionsmust be received by 23:59 Thursday January 7th, 2010. The chosen presenters will be notified on or before February 1st, 2010.
Proposals should be sent electronically to ffagsc@ucalgary.ca. Proposals may also be mailed to the address at the bottomof the page, attention Jamie Meyers-Riczu. If you have any questions regarding possible formats of submission, these may also be directed electronically to the above email address.
