William Jordan is a Professor and Head of the Department of Music, specializing in Theory and Composition. He has composed over two hundred works, for diverse ensembles. He is the recipient of over twenty commissions from sources such as the Canada Council and the Alberta Foundation for the Arts, but also individual sponsorships such as the Calgary Philharmonic, the Cathedral Church of the Redeemer, the Windsor Symphony Orchestra, New Works Calgary, the Land's End Chamber Ensemble, and private supporters. His commissioned orchestral compositions from the 1980s--Symphonic Fantasy (1980), the Second Concerto for Piano and Orchestra (1986) and Variations for Orchestra (1990) were recorded and broadcast nationally by the CBC. In recent years he has turned to chamber music, music for solo piano, and songs.
